Many people do not know very well the advantages of having banking services, since 53% of adults in Mexico do not have an account in a bank. Because of this, they do not have access to secure savings, credit or payment methods. However, there is an institution that is fighting against financial exclusion to provide well-being to Mexican society. Which has led it to be recognized as the "most socially responsible bank in the world."
To learn more about this, Edgar López, General Chile Mobile Number List Director of Expok, spoke with Tomás Lozano, Executive Director of Investor Relations, Corporate Development and ESG, and José Luis Muñoz, Executive Director of Sustainability and Investor Relations of Banorte . Below, we tell you the details of this recognition and what the bank did to achieve it!
Recognition for social responsibility
Banorte, a Mexican financial institution based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, is the most socially responsible bank in the world in Newsweek's 2022 ranking . This was determined after evaluating more than 750 banking institutions from 35 countries and consulting 45 thousand clients , as it achieved the highest score in ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) criteria.
All information regarding Banorte's ESG strategy, as well as its financial aspects and the metrics that support the data, can be found in its annual reports. As José Luis Muñoz mentioned, publishing these reports has allowed the institution to receive feedback from its stakeholders and increase the dissemination of the impact of its operations.
The latter is essential because the management of this institution considers it essential to demonstrate that all activities are aligned with social responsibility and ESG criteria. Since, in this way, they can assure interested parties , especially investors and clients, that Banorte is a responsible and reliable institution.
And, as Tomás Lozano and José Luis Muñoz point out, this recognition is the result of years of work implementing social responsibility strategies. Therefore, it gives the impetus to the institution and all the people who work in it to maintain their commitment, reinforce it and continue adopting the best corporate practices.
