The acting Minister of Finance and Public Function, María Jesús Montero , believes that banks must "commit and get involved" in a situation marked by the rise in mortgage prices due to the rise in the Euribor.
"That banks and financial entities have to commit and have to get involved in something that cannot affect domestic economies in such a noticeable way. It is a crucial issue for this society," Montero stressed in an interview on the program 'La Hora de la 1', from TVE.

"We are very aware and it is one of the main problems and, therefore, the main concern that the Government has," Montero acknowledged during the interview.
For the acting minister, both access to housing at affordable prices and the provision of rental housing, primarily for young people, is crucial to confront the escalation of prices due to the rise in rates.
" Housing is not a luxury good , it is not something to which such an important part of the salary can be dedicated to the mortgage or rent as many families are doing and therefore it is going to be one of the workhorses during this legislature," he assured.
